The struggle for choosing gifts begins. Most professionals are baffled by the task of finding the right business gifts for colleagues. The choice:
• can’t be too personal
• can’t be trivial
• can’t be too cheap or too expensive
• must be of a relevant subject, yet can’t be preachy
• must be visually appealing
• best if collectable, kept, or useful
• general enough to easily fit many age groups.

Small books are often a great choice—especially by women business authors! Collections can be the most appropriate. For under $20, bookstores only offer a few titles that fit these parameters. Two new books are out this season, and several classics that should not be forgotten, and all by businesswoman include:

Women who Win at Work: Flowers of Wisdom from Visionary Businesswomen by Liane Sebastian http://www.amazon.com/Women-Who-Win-Work-Businesswomen/dp/0883911841/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1259603028&sr=1-3
Encompassing profiles and advice from exemplary businesswomen, this collection penetrates what motivates workingwomen. Explore useable ideas, lessons from experience, and innovative approaches of over 100 contributors through concise and colorful pages. Featured is Lucy Rosen's article "Chip Through Emotional Blocks."

Gathering profound and relevant ideas from the best business thinkers is complemented by engaging commentary. Patterned after David Kidder’s
Intellectual Devotional series http://www.amazon.com/David-S.-Kidder/e/B001JP0XCU/ref=sr_tc_2_0 this book focuses on commerce. Each day begins with a compelling concept from a leading business thinker, followed by considered commentary.

Don't Sweat the Small Stuff for Women: Simple and Practical Ways to Do What Matters Most and Find Time for You by Kristine Carlson http://www.amazon.com/Dont-Sweat-Small-Stuff-Women/dp/0786886021/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1259603566&sr=1-1
Although older, this classic (and Elaine St. James’s book below) should be part of every workingwoman’s library. Following the Don't Sweat the Small Stuff series by Richard Carlson, this quick-read captures a female viewpoint and presents solutions to many common daily challenges. Each entry explores shortcuts and techniques to try!

Simplify Your Work Life: Ways to Change the Way You Work so You Have More Time by Elaine St. James http://www.amazon.com/Simplify-Your-Work-Life-Change/dp/0786885963/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1259088036&sr=8-5

Another great little classic, this book is similar to Kristine Carlson’s above. Similar size and length, a library of techniques is presented. From fun to serious, from quick to time-consuming, the underlying theme is the goal to work more effectively, not more hours. For those of us who love to work, working better is always attractive.
